A Former Toronto Maple Leafs Winger Was the Victim of a Disgusting Headshot

While the Florida Panthers are absolutely demolishing the Carolina Hurricanes, the Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars are engaging in a pretty good series.

Yesterday afternoon, the Oilers won in a Game 3 blowout on home ice. Now, they have a 2-1 lead in the series and seem to be on track to make it back to the Stanley Cup Finals.

However, the Oilers ended up suffering an unfortunate loss in the form of winger Connor Brown, who was unceremoniously taken out by Stars defenseman Alex Petrovic.

As you can see in the clip below, Brown was along the boards when Petrovic came into the picture and clipped him right in the head.

It appeared as though Petrovic got his elbow up when he really didn't need to. Subsequently, Brown went to the dressing room and never came back.

The hit was going viral on social media, with fans debating whether or not this was truly a dirty hit that was worthy of some sort of punishment.

There is currently no telling whether or not the former Toronto Maple Leafs winger will be able to play for the Oilers in Game 4.

This has been a very physical series so far, especially after the slash Darnell Nurse delivered on Roope Hintz. Hintz had to miss Game 3 as a result.

Only time will tell whether or not this series continues to be a physical battle. There is always a chance that both teams decide to calm it down for Game 4.

Whatever the case may be, it is clear that the Oilers have been the dominant team, and we are currently on track for the first Stanley Cup rematch since the Detroit Red Wings played the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009.
