Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner is likely to test free agency, but this latest report from Darren Dreger is pretty devastating, all things considered.

Mitch Marner remains one of the biggest names heading into free agency, which will officially begin on July 1st.
However, a new report from TSN's Darren Dreger is adding fuel to the fire, and Maple Leafs fans are not going to be enthused.

Is Mitch Marner leaving the Toronto Maple Leafs?

While speaking to the Leafs Morning Take podcast, Dreger made it clear that there is currently a 99 percent chance that Marner leaves the Leafs.
With everything that happened this postseason, it only makes sense that Marner would want a fresh start elsewhere.

Furthermore, The Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, and Las Vegas Golden Knights with less taxes attached to the contract.
The Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, and Las Vegas Golden Knights are all teams that fit that description.
Whether or not Marner has the guts to leave the team that drafted him still remains to be seen.
The same can be said about the Leafs, who would have to pay Marner $13.5 million per season or more. Given his playoff performances, that salary would be a hard pill to swallow.
Either way, this is going to be a difficult offseason for the Leafs and Marner. They have gotten used to one another, and breaking up would be a tough change to adapt to.
However, sometimes, a fresh start for both sides is what you need for everyone to be happier.
