After two awful periods against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube delivered an inspiring message that got his team in gear.

Last night was a rough one for the Toronto Maple Leafs as they were horrible through 40 minutes of action against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Overall, the Maple Leafs were down 3-0 after two periods of action. It was a truly awful performance, although somehow, the Leafs mounted a third-period comeback and won the game.
Throughout the first 40 minutes, head coach Craig Berube looked livid. His team was putting up a truly shocking performance, and he wasn't standing for any of it.
When the Leafs came out firing on all cylinders in the third period, there were rumblings that Berube must have gone scorched earth on the team during the second intermission. As it turns out, that is very much the case.

While speaking to Amazon Prime after the win, goaltender Anthony Stolarz was crystal clear about Berube's speech, noting that the coach did not have anything good to say about the team's performance.
Yeah, some not so good things from Chief... Chief did the talking and really lit a fire under us. Kudos to the guys for the way we were able to respond. That's how we have to play. We're a talented team, and when we work hard, continue to play his brand of hockey, get in front of the other team's goalie, and battle on the forecheck, good things happen. That third period is a prime example of that.
With that in mind, the team was able to showcase just how well it responds under pressure. They showed tenacity, and they came away with an unlikely victory.
Whether or not the Maple Leafs are going to be able to keep this up going forward, still remains to be seen. They have the Utah Mammoth at home on Wednesday.
Their record is currently 7-5-1, which is just above .500. It could be better, and they need to start stringing some wins together.
If they can use this game as a springboard, then perhaps the Leafs will come through with yet another impressive month of November.
