Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube watched his team erase a 3-0 deficit against the Pittsburgh Penguins, although that is an issue in and of itself.

In the second period of last night's game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Pittsburgh Penguins, things were not looking good for the home team.
The Leafs were absolutely abysmal at times during that game, and it really felt like they were going to get blown out. The score was 3-0, and the Leafs could not do anything right.
However, the Leafs then pulled off an epic comeback in the third period that seemingly came out of nowhere. William Nylander and Auston Matthews led the way back, with Bobby McMann getting the game-winner.

Craig Berube shows no mercy to the Toronto Maple Leafs

It was an improbable result, although that did not absolve the team from getting an earful from head coach Craig Berube, who did not like his team through 40 minutes.
While speaking to the media, Berube acknowledged that this kind of play from his team is not acceptable and needs to be dealt with going forward.
I have no clue. I don't have an answer for that right now. The second period they got the puck & did whatever they wanted with it ... I mean, it's not good enough
When asked about what the problem might be, Berube believes it is a mental lapse that is keeping the Leafs from achieving its biggest goals.
That's all mental for me. It's all mental for me. (pause) It's gotta be better. That's the bottom line.

It has certainly been a weird season so far, and you have to wonder whether or not the Toronto Maple Leafs can use this win as a launch point for more victories.
On Wednesday, the Leafs will be in action against the Utah Mammoth, and this should prove to be one of their toughest tests of the season.
