Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner is free to pursue a contract somewhere else in free agency, and the rumors are getting out of hand.

Mitch Marner is a popular man right now following his 102-point season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, in which he showed everyone just how good he is.
Overall, the forward is likely to become a free agent, and the fans are very curious to see how this all goes for him and whether or not he leaves Toronto for good.
The speculation concerning Marner has been running rampant, with many analysts giving their takes on where the forward will go next.

Will Mitch Marner sign with the Florida Panthers?

According to Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects, the frontrunner right now should be the Florida Panthers, who are supposedly at the top of Marner's list.
As Robinson argues, the Panthers are a team that likes to swing for the fences and would be willing to throw a wrench at their Atlantic Division rivals, the Leafs.
There's real smoke that the Florida Panthers could be gearing up to make a run at Marner.

The Panthers, for their credit, are known for their aggressive swings. And this would certainly fall under that category. In this world, you'd have to imagine that Sam Bennett would not be retained and Anton Lundell would be elevated to the second-line centre role.

Marner moves out of the pressure cooker of Toronto to the sunny disposition of Florida with its tax-free status, immaculate vibes, and constant Cup contention.

The Panthers are in the midst of a Stanley Cup Finals series against the Edmonton Oilers, but they may lose a bunch of players soon.
Sam Bennett and Brad Marchand are expected to test the market, which would open the door for the Panthers to go and get a guy like Marner.
The only issue is that Marner is not a playoff winner, which is what the Panthers are looking for right now. At this stage, Marner may even be seen as a huge downgrade for the playoffs.
Only time will tell whether or not Robinson's musings come true.
