Mitch Marner Has Seemingly Informed the Toronto Maple Leafs of his Intentions on July 1st

After a career year in which Mitch Marner scored 27 goals, 75 assists, and 102 points, there is no doubt that teams around the league would love to have him on their rosters.

Of course, the forward could still return to the Toronto Maple Leafs, however, yet another playoff disappointment has many feeling as though these two are done with one another.

In fact, Brad Treliving wouldn't even confirm whether or not he would extend an offer to Marner before July 1st. All-in-all, it feels like both sides are over it and want a change of pace.

Having said that, Marner's decision has not yet been made public, at least not by the Leafs themselves. Chris Johnston, on the other hand, seems to have the inside track on what's happening.

During the most recent episode of 'The Chris Johnston Show,' the insider hinted that the Leafs have been informed of what Marner wants to do. Essentially, the forward wants to explore the market on July 1st, but he will not rule out the Leafs as an option.

This is pretty well in line with a lot of the predictions out there. Overall, you can't help but respect the decision, given the fact that Marner has every right to seek a deal that makes sense for him and his family.

The market for Marner is going to be big. He may even receive offers from half of the NHL. Whether or not those are offers he takes seriously remains to be seen.

Some predict his next contract will be as low as $12 million per season, while others say it could reach as high as $15 million per season.

Whatever the case may be, losing Marner is going to sting. Even if the playoff results weren't there, he was still a solid superstar for about a decade.
