Brad Marchand is going to free agency on July 1st, and there is speculation about whether or not the Toronto Maple Leafs can make an offer that would entice him.
With free agency just a couple of days from now, there are plenty of storylines that fans will be following. Of course, one of them is
Brad Marchand, who is an unrestricted free agent.
At 37 years old, he is looking for the final professional contract of his career. He wants a four-year deal, and he supposedly wants $8 million per season.
Brad Marchand has plenty of choices in free agency
According to Pierre LeBrun of TSN, when Free Agency opens up at noon on July 1st, there will be three teams in the running for the forward.
Of course, the favorite will be the Florida Panthers. However, the Toronto Maple Leafs and, shockingly, the Boston Bruins are considered to be the other two teams in the running.
As we wait to see Brad Marchand's decision with Florida, several teams including Boston and Toronto hope to talk to him come Tuesday when the market opens, if he doesn't re-sign with the Cup champs. The Bruins would certainly be open to bringing him back. But again, perhaps Marchand re-signs in Florida.
The Bruins want to bring back Marchand, and it seems like they realize how badly of a mistake they made when they turned their back on the forward at the trade deadline.
Meanwhile, the Leafs have been linked to Marchand for quite some time, and there has been a lot of chatter about whether or not the Leafs could bring him in.
Ultimately, July 1st is going to be very interesting, and the fans have every reason to be excited about what might be on the horizon here.
