Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving has a lot to deal with these days when it comes to Mitch Marner and the media won't stop asking about it.

Mitch Marner is having a career year with the Toronto Maple Leafs right now, however, he is also up for a new contract and it might just cost the team over $100 million.
While the Leafs are willing to pay the big bucks, there are other franchises who wouldn't mind paying the winger even more.
This is bad news for general manager Brad Treliving who is now being tasked with retaining a player who is absolutely vital to the franchise's success.

Brad Treliving and Mitch Marner have a lot to talk about

For now, Marner is refusing to negotiate with the Leafs until after the season, which is certainly creating a whole lot of anxiety right now.
Recently, Treliving was asked about the negotiation and how they must be going right about now.
The general manager then put his foot down, making it absolutely clear that the team is focusing on the on-ice product right now as the playoffs are coming up in 15 games.
«We're going to focus on the ice, and any updates we have business-wise, we will be sure to share them Mitch, as we all know, has had a terrific year. He is a vital part of our team. He is a big part of what we're going to try to accomplish in these next (15) games and beyond. That's where our focus is.»
The Mitch Marner stuff has been a distraction in the media but the team has done a good job of making sure it doesn't seep into the culture.
They want to keep it strictly about winning games and while they have struggled to do that at times, they continue to push forward.
Marner is currently at 82 points and 21 goals this season which is pretty impressive, all things considered. It is easy to see why his next contract might be worth nine figures.
