Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving is looking to make some big moves in free agency, but trades seem to be at the top of his mind.
Free agency begins today, and if there is one thing the
Toronto Maple Leafs could use right now, it would be some extra cap space for big signings.
When you don't have available cap space, it is harder to wheel and deal, which is something that general manager Brad Treliving knows all too well.

Neither of these players was particularly good last season, and the Leafs would benefit from moving on. It's tough to say goodbye, but this is a business, after all.
According to Nick Alberga of The Leafs Nation, Treliving has been trying to trade Kampf and Jarnkrok for weeks. Unfortunately, there is no market for them right now.
The Leafs remain active in trying to find new homes for
David Kampf and
Calle Jarnkrok.
With free agency set to kick off tomorrow, I'm told there's not much doing on either front right now.
The market has been thin.
Of course, this can change over the coming weeks. Teams feel as though they can get better players in free agency, without having to give up assets.
As a result, the Leafs might have to wait until the end of July or even August to officially make a move. Whatever the case may be, Treliving is working the phones.
During the summer, teams can go over the cap prior to training camp, but they have to find a way to bring their costs down before the season officially begins.
Needless to say, this is going to be a busy time for the Maple Leafs, and we cannot wait to see how this all plays out.
