Mitch Marner is now a member of the Las Vegas Golden Knights, and with this fresh start upon him, he has opted to change his jersey number to mark the occasion.
Yesterday marked a huge moment in the history of the Toronto Maple Leafs as the team officially traded
Mitch Marner to the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
Overall, fans are excited to see how this goes and whether or not the team can make some big moves that would shake up the Atlantic Division.
Meanwhile, Marner is looking to settle into his new gig with the Golden Knights. In fact, he already made his first move by changing his jersey number.
Mitch Marner throws it back with new jersey number
As a member of the Golden Knights, Marner will be wearing the number 93. For those who may not know, this is a throwback to when Mitch played for the London Knights.
This is a pretty cool callback, and we're sure Marner will feel at home wearing this number with his new team.
It's certainly sad to see Marner walk away from the Maple Leafs, but this was all to be expected.
At the end of the day, the Maple Leafs are a team that needs results in the postseason, and Marner was not giving them that. Moreover, Mitch needed a fresh start somewhere far from Toronto.
While it certainly sucks to see these two sides part ways, sometimes, this is just what's better for everyone involved.
Hopefully, Marner and the Leafs continue to be cordial, and the fans don't treat him too harshly upon his return.
