Former Toronto Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan will be interviewing with the New York Islanders soon, and fans are curious about what he would be doing there.
After a second-round playoff exit, it was clear that some changes needed to be made up top, and MLSE made the decision after a board meeting.
Brendan Shanahan to interview with the New York Islanders
Lou Lamoriello recently stepped down from his role with the Islanders, so it would be a stroke of irony for Shanahan to replace him.
Nevertheless, reporter Bruce Garrioch has revealed that if Shanahan were to get the job with the Islanders, he would act as their general manager and as their President of Hockey Operations.
There has been «talk in league circles» that Brendan Shanahan will be interviewed for the dual role of president of hockey operations and general manager with the New York Islanders.
There is no telling whether or not Shanahan ends up getting the job. However, he does have experience, and his resume speaks for itself.
While the Leafs never had the success they wanted under his tutelage, one could make the argument that this is the fault of the players.
Either way, we wish Brendan Shanahan the best of luck with all of his future endeavors. We hope he is able to find success somewhere else.
The Islanders are a legendary organization, so it would only make sense for them to bring in a high-profile name.
Update: Brendan Shanahan lost the job to Mathieu Darche.
