Chris Pronger Explains Why the Toronto Maple Leafs Can't Win Anything

Chris Pronger knows what it takes to win a Stanley Cup, and while talking about the Toronto Maple Leafs, he explained why they don't have a championship pedigree.
This season, the Toronto Maple Leafs fell short in the first two rounds of the playoffs again, this time with an embarrassing Game 7 loss to the Florida Panthers in the second round.
Subsequently, this has led to questions about the DNA of the roster and whether or not this group of players could ever end up winning a Stanley Cup.
Recently, Chris Pronger weighed in on this situation and had some interesting insight about why the Leafs are faltering right now.

Firstly, Pronger started out by comparing the current Leafs to the 90s Detroit Red Wings before Steve Yzerman started winning Cups in his 30s.
I look at Steve Yzerman and the way the media talked about him pre-Scotty Bowman, pre-winning the Stanley Cup, it was in a very similar light to how these guys are looked at with respect to 'are you ever gonna win with that guy or is he ever gonna win'. He was in his 30s when he won.

Secondly, Pronger questioned whether or not the roster is constructed properly and whether or not these guys actually want to win enough.
As constructed, is it the right fit? Do they have what it takes, do they have the willingness to go above and beyond of what is expected or are they just happy to be in the league and playing in Toronto?

He noted that throughout the season, the staff must figure out whether or not this team has the right role players to get the job done. It is something that the team has to constantly be thinking about, and as it stands, the Leafs aren't doing enough tinkering.
What you currently have constructed, how does it map out, and as you reflect on the wins and the losses in the season and the playoffs, what do you think you're missing, what do the current players not have or how can you help develop them or guide them further and fill in the holes around them or do you blow it up and remake it.
Simply put, we might just see the end of Mitch Marner and John Tavares in Toronto. They have been part of the culture of playoff losses, and it might just be time to move on.
