Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube had a bone to pick with everyone following Sam Bennett's elbow to the head of goaltender Anthony Stolarz.
Overall, it was a pretty brutal play that had the goalie vomiting on the bench. Moreover, he even had to be transported to the hospital in an ambulance.
Craig Berube addresses Sam Bennett
One person who was particularly upset last night was none other than Craig Berube, and rightfully so. After all, his goaltender was taken out.
While speaking to the media, Berube was quick to call out Sam Bennett, noting that the elbow was a clear attempt to injure or at least knock the goaltender off balance.
The head coach also went after the officiating and the NHL for not protecting the goalie. We're sure he is even angrier after the announcement this morning.
As for his team's response to the Bennett hit, Craig Berube didn't have much to add. Instead, he noted that he liked how the team kept its composure.
In Game 2, it will be interesting to see if the Maple Leafs try anything, such as putting
Ryan Reaves in the lineup. It is going to be fascinating to watch.
Hopefully, the Maple Leafs can take advantage of their current lead in the series and show their fans that they can still win this thing.
