Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has shifted his opinion on Auston Matthews following some recent comments about his captain's return from injury.
Overall, it was a sensational performance from Matthews, who seems to be 100 percent recovered from his nagging upper-body injury.
It is an injury that kept him out of nine-straight games, but now, it looks like clear skies are ahead for Matthews.
Auston Matthews does it again
After the match, head coach Craig Berube praised his captain, noting how the captain is getting his groove back
"I thought tonight was his best game. I know he score, but to me, he had his legs more tonight. He had his legs better and skated better and capitalized on the opportunities he got which is important, that's what he does. But overall, it's coming. It's coming."
"He is not up to speed yet for sure, and we all know that, but it was a big goal for him. It is going to take time - practice time, which is going to be difficult with the schedule - but he is working at it. He will get there. I have no worries about it. He will get there."
Whatever the case may be here, Matthews seems to be back to his old self as he is out her scoring goals and even notching some assists.
In the three games he has played since his return, he has been able to score three goals while adding two assists.
Now, the Leafs have won 10 of their last 12, and they continue to play as if they are one of the best teams in the entire NHL.
