Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews has been solid this season but Craig Berube's latest comments certainly bring a lot of things into perspective.
Auston Matthews is the captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs and he has certainly been making the most of that opportunity so far.
If you are a fan of the Maple Leafs, then you can't help but be happy about what Matthews has done with this team and how he played in the first round.
Among those happy with Matthews' performance is none other than head coach Craig Berube who had some very strong comments about the forward recently.
Craig Berube loves Auston Matthews
While speaking to the media after Game 6 against the Ottawa Senators, Berube could not help but list everything Matthews did right.
If you are a fan, this has to be eye opening as it shows that Matthews really is the guy everyone knew he could be.
"Work ethic and competitiveness for the whole game. It was high-end. I don't know what his faceoff percentage is right now, but it is high. I didn't see him lose too many draws. It starts there.
He was just heavy, physical, and worked. He was competing. He touched all areas of the game for us [on Thursday] in a good way - PK, and he scored a big goal on the power play. As I said, he led the way."

Now, Auston Matthews is going to have to bring that same work ethic against the Florida Panthers who are a much better team than the Senators.
Overall, this is going to be a very difficult series and we cannot wait to see how the Maple Leafs are going to respond.
While it is likely that the Leafs lose, there is still a chance that they make this a long and prosperous series. At least that is what fans want.
If anyone is going to be the reason for a Maple Leafs upset, it is going to have to be Auston Matthews.
