Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has yet to name a permanent starting goalie and with the playoffs approaching, fans are starting to get worried.
While it is nice to have two viable starters, these kinds of debates become concerning when you realize how the Leafs have just 12 games left in the regular season.
With Woll and Stolarz delivering some up and down performances as of late, it's impossible to tell who should be the guy come playoff time,
and Craig Berube recognizes this.Craig Berube comments on the starting goalie conundrum
Last night, the Maple Leafs went with Joseph Woll who wasn't particularly great against the Nashville Predators, even if the loss wasn't totally his fault.
Prior to the game, the media spoke to Berube where they asked him whether or not he would determine a starter for this team in the near future.
Unfortunately, the head coach was non-committal, saying that he isn't steering clear of the rotation at this time and that he will continue to do things as he sees fit.
"I love the rotation. I just don't feel like I want to get away from that - yet."
Joseph Woll has a goals-against average of 2.74 and a save percentage of .907. However, Anthony Stolarz has a goals-against average of 2.42 and a save percentage of .918.
Although Stolarz has the better stats, there is no denying that he has slipped as of late, which has made Woll look like the better option. Unfortunately, when one starts to establish himself as the frontrunner, he has a bad game and undoes all of the progress.
Only time will tell who the starting goalie will be come playoff time but if one thing is for certain, fans would love to know sooner rather than later.
