The Toronto Maple Leafs fell to the Nashville Predators in embarrassing fashion on Saturday night and captain Auston Matthews had quite a bit to say about it.
Auston Matthews is the captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs which means it is his responsibility to hold his teammates accountable when they don't play well.
Although it must be tough for him to get used to this reality, there is no doubt that there are high expectations on him as a leader and with the playoffs around the corner, he needs to rally his troops.
Last night, the Maple Leafs lost to the Nashville Predators by a score of 5-2 and it came after a horrible blown 2-0 lead. In fact, the Preds scored five unanswered goals.

To make matters worse, the Maple Leafs had an opportunity to take full control of the Atlantic Division on Saturday night, but they missed the boat completely.
In the eyes of the captain, it all boils down to being consistent and always playing at the same level regardless of the competition.
«The inconsistencies aren't ideal, especially this time of year. When we have a bad outing, string together a couple of good games, then to have kind of another letdown like this, that's on us to make sure we're consistent no mater the situation."
Overall, the Toronto Maple Leafs are still tied for first place in the Atlantic Division, although it is the Florida Panthers who currently have the tie-breaker.
Heading into these last 12 games of the season, fans are going to want something to cheer about, and losing these games will not help.
It is going to be up to the players to showcase that they have what it takes to win games down the stretch.
