Ex-Toronto Maple Leafs forward Jeff O'Neill watched his former team lose against the New Jersey Devils, and it led to some very valid questions about this roster.

Jeff O'Neill is someone who has never minced words when it comes to the Toronto Maple Leafs and their failures throughout the years.
If you are a fan of the Maple Leafs, you understand that this season has been an utter failure so far, and it's been hard to shake.
A loss to the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday was the final straw for a lot of people, and it is becoming crystal clear that the Leafs are anemic to start the year.
O'Neill has been watching closely, and after last night's game, he was absolutely confused by what kind of team the Leafs are.

Jeff O'Neill has a question about the Toronto Maple Leafs

As he noted, the Leafs don't do anything particularly well. It makes it hard for the team to really have any sort of identity to start the season.
I don't know what they're all about. I don't know if they're a skill team, a forechecking team, or a special-teams type of team. I don't know what they are right now - but they were awful tonight. They couldn't get the puck, couldn't fight for it, and had nothing tonight.
The Maple Leafs are playing against the Buffalo Sabres on Friday and Saturday, which will be an opportunity for the Leafs to turn things around.
If they lose any of these two games, there are going to be a lot of angry fans, and we're sure head coach Craig Berube will be upset as well.
The team's captain, Auston Matthews, needs to be a whole lot better right now. Meanwhile, the defense and goalies need to be better, too.
Only time will tell whether or not the Leafs can turn the tide, or continue their current descent.
