Horrifying Scene as Referee Chris Rooney Bleeds Profusely Following a High Stick to the Eye
Tonight, referee Chris Rooney had to be replaced during the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers game due to a stick to the eye that looked very bad.
Unfortunately, the referee had to be replaced early on in tonight's game as he was clipped by a high stick that was completely accidental.
The stick got up under his visor, and it caused him to begin bleeding profusely. Garrett Rank was the reserve referee who is now in the game.
Garrett Rank is here as the alternate referee for Game 7 and has come on the ice. Chris Rooney was taken off with trainers after taking a stick near the eye.
Not long after this incident, the Florida Panthers would go on to open the scoring and make this game 1-0 in favor of the visitors.
Of course, there is a lot on the line in this one as it is a winner-takes-all scenario with the winner going to the Eastern Conference Finals against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Florida Panthers Game 7
Only time will tell whether or not the Toronto Maple Leafs can come back in this game and win it all.
Right now, the score is 3-0 and it is becoming clear that this Leafs team just does not have it in them right now which is absolutely disappointing.
For many, if the scoreline continues this way, the fans will feel like it was all for nothing and that Game 6 was simply a mirage.
