Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Anthony Stolarz has been dealing with an injury over the course of the last couple of weeks but he is in the lineup against the Florida Panthers.
After being taken out by
Sam Bennett in Game 1 against the Florida Panthers,
Anthony Stolarz is officially making his comeback to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
According to Elliotte Friedman, Stolarz is the backup goaltender for
Joseph Woll tonight, which is a shocking update for a lot of fans out there.
Instead,
Matt Murray was the projected backup goaltender as he has been all series long. Moreover,
Dennis Hildeby was supposed to be the emergency backup.
However, the Leafs are now getting a huge morale boost as Stolarz's backup status essentially proves that he is, indeed, healthy enough to play.
Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Florida Panthers Game 7
Tonight, the Toronto Maple Leafs will be looking to break their generational curse with a rare win in a Game 7.
With said win, they would propel themselves into the Eastern Conference Finals, where they would play against the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Leafs and Hurricanes match up quite well with each other so it should come as no surprise that fans are eager for this series.
Either way, there is a ton on the line right now, and this fanbase has been starved for a deep run. Beating the defending champions would absolutely bring pure bliss to this fanbase.
