Chris Kreider was traded from the New York Rangers to the Anaheim Ducks this week, although it seems like the Toronto Maple Leafs were about to make it happen.
For the most part, fans knew this kind of trade was coming. After a weak season, it seemed like both parties were ready to move on from one another.
Now, Kreider gets to rejoin his former Rangers teammate
Jacob Trouba in California. The Ducks are a team looking to make waves this year, and they could make a splash in free agency.

Heading into the offseason, the Toronto Maple Leafs were listed as one of the potential landing spots for Kreider. After all, the Leafs have the funds and the assets to make a trade like this happen.
However, as David Pagnotta reports, the Maple Leafs fumbled the bag on this one. The Ducks beat them to the punch, and the Rangers ultimately decided on doing business with the West Coast bottom-feeder.

While the Leafs were interested, they clearly were not interested enough to jump at the opportunity to make a trade. Instead, general manager Brad Treliving has been fairly quiet.
He has yet to make a single signing, and we still don't have any contract extensions for the likes of
Matthew Knies and
John Tavares.
With that in mind, fans are understandably getting a bit nervous here. Although there are still two and a half weeks before July 1st officially rolls around.
Hopefully, we see some big swings from the Leafs here, as the fans are getting just a tad restless about what's coming next.
