Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi is looking to have a big season with the team, and his latest statement will certainly put a lot of fear into NHL opponents.
Max Domi only had eight goals and 33 points last season, which is not what you expect from a player who has proven himself to be a 70-point guy in the past.
Typically, Domi should be playing on the right wing. However, last season, he was forced to play center, and in the eyes of some, this was the source of his problems.
Recently, Domi got to speak to the team's in-house reporter, Ryan Leslie. During this conversation, the second-generation Leaf was asked what makes this team special.
Domi's answer was a simple one that should instill fear into the rest of the NHL. Simply put, the Maple Leafs will be one of the hardest teams to play against in the league.
We're going to be hard to play against and I think that's the key. Teams are going to know, when they see our team on the schedule, that's gonna be a tough night.
You gotta back it up, and it starts with the habits at practice, competing against your buddies, and that's hard to do. But, if you do it every single day for the course of the whole season, you're setting yourself up for success.
If Max Domi is correct, then Toronto Maple Leafs fans should be extremely excited about this upcoming season and everything that is on the horizon.
Under head coach Craig Berube, the Maple Leafs have certainly been a grittier team. Having said that, it remains to be seen how they will look without Mitch Marner on the roster.
Some may find this team harder to play against with Marner gone, but there is no denying that a huge amount of skill will be lacking.
Ultimately, fans will just have to wait and see before jumping to any foregone conclusions.
