Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll has had to replace Anthony Stolarz in the postseason, and unfortunately, he has been disappointing so far.
He has a goals-against average of 3.99 and a save percentage of .869 in the postseason so far, and that does not bode well for the rest of the series.
Joseph Woll speaks after a bad Game 3
Having said that, Woll doesn't want anyone thinking he might be lacking confidence here.
While speaking to the media after the game on Friday, the goaltender made it crystal clear that he is feeling good and that he feels like the team was just the victim of some bad bounces.
"Shake it off. Bounces go both ways in hockey. Just came out on the wrong side. We've done a good job all year of sticking to our process. That's what we fall back on."
The only way to win in the playoffs is with good goaltending and Joseph Woll is being counted on to provide that right now.
However, there is no denying now that Craig Berube made the right choice by making Anthony Stolarz the original starting goaltender for the postseason.
Only time will tell whether or not the Leafs can finish out this series and perhaps even get it done in five games.
Of course, that is a lofty goal and expectation, but not one that is fully outside of the realm of possibility given how solid this team has been all season long.
