Mark Giordano Officially Returns to the Toronto Maple Leafs

Mark Giordano was a Norris Trophy-winning defenseman during his time in the National Hockey League, and there is no doubt that he has all the experience in the world.

Last season, at the age of 41, he was trying to make a comeback. After two and a half seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Giordano felt like he still could play at a high level.

Unfortunately, no teams were interested in his services, and he eventually retired from the sport, albeit quietly.

Now, Giordano is back, and it just so happens that he is back with the Maple Leafs. However, not in the way you may think. No, the defenseman won't be suiting up anytime soon.

Instead, the NHL veteran is working with the young players populating the Leafs Development Camp. He was seen on the ice yesterday for the camp's first official day.

According to Assistant General Manager Hayley Wickenheiser, Giordano's role with the team hasn't been fully defined yet. However, he has an interest in working on the development side and is figuring things out with general manager Brad Treliving.

Whatever the case may be, Giordano is the perfect former player to bring into the fold right now.

If there is anyone who could help out these young players, it would be him. He is a huge asset to the Maple Leafs organization.

Whether or not he takes on a full-time role with the team, still remains to be seen.
