Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving has been wheeling and dealing throughout free agency, and it is clear that he's not even close to being done.

Brad Treliving has been a busy man as of late, especially with free agency beginning on Tuesday. So far, he has made some trades, including the blockbuster deal involving Mitch Marner and Nicolas Roy.
With Roy on the team, the Maple Leafs now have themselves a third-line center. As for the other centers, there are Auston Matthews, John Tavares, and Scott Laughton.
All four of these players are locked in for next season, which means some of the team's lesser centermen could be on the chopping block.

Toronto Maple Leafs may trade David Kampf

This was all but confirmed by general manager Brad Treliving today, as he admitted that the Leafs have their centers set in stone.
As a result, it would appear as though there is no longer a spot for David Kampf on the roster. Based on Treliving's comments, it would come as no surprise if he is traded very soon.
When you look at our roster now, you have Nic Roy, who can take a lot of defensive heavy lifting with defensive-zone starts, defensive faceoffs, and matchups. When you put those into a pot, it allows you to not necessarily get lost on your 1-2-3 but spread out matchups and situational play that could free up different people when we talk about Auston, John, and Scotty Laughton.
Previous reports suggested that Treliving is already shopping guys like Kampf and Calle Jarnkrok, although there isn't much of a market for them.
With that in mind, the Leafs might have to wait until deep into the summer, when the market has stabilized. Right now, teams are going after the best free agents. Once those players are gone, the Kampfs of the world will be on people's radar.
While this may be a harsh assessment, it is the correct one. At the end of the day, you cannot be surprised by any of this.
Hockey is a business, and if you are not playing up to standard, you get punished for it.
