Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies was heavily rumored to be part of the Mikko Rantanen trade discussion but Brad Treliving was against it.

Matthew Knies talks trade deadline rumors
The young man had a lot of stress over the past week and while speaking to reporters on Wednesday, he revealed his mindset during the trade deadline period.
Ultimately, he was feeling some nerves about everything, however, he also acknowledged that he wanted to stay in Toronto and needed to distract himself somehow.
"A little nerve-wracking. I wanted to stay here & be a part of this group. But I tried to not focus on it. It's out of my control so I let them handle their business & fortunately I'm still here & just excited"
Matthew Knies is playing on the top line with Mitch Marner and
Auston Matthews where he currently has 24 goals and 19 assists.
His rise within the organization has been truly amazing to see and his seamless transition from the NCAA to the NHL has been an encouraging one to say the least.
Tonight, he will be more focused on the task at hand as the Maple Leafs are taking on the Florida Panthers in an Atlantic Division showdown.
If Knies can score a goal or two, then the fans in Toronto are absolutely going to blow the roof off of the Scotiabank Arena.
