Mitch Marner Brutally Rejects Franchise That Was Willing to Pay Him Over $14 Million Per Season

Free agent forward Mitch Marner is being pursued by numerous franchises right now, but one team, in particular, has seemingly already gotten the boot.
Mitch Marner and his agent Darren Ferris will be making the rounds come July 1st as they intend to meet with various potential suitors, including the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Overall, there are some teams willing to spend stupid money on the superstar forward. After all, he just came off a career-high 102 points, and at 28 years old, he is firmly in his prime.
Having said that, the abundance of choice is going to be overwhelming for Mitch, and there are reportedly some teams that are already coming off his list.

In a new piece for The Athletic by Pierre LeBrun, it was revealed how Marner has supposedly taken the Columbus Blue Jackets off his preferred destinations list.
As we previously reported, this was one of the teams willing to pay the superstar forward a whopping $14 million per season.
They would absolutely enter the Mitch Marner sweepstakes if invited to do so. But unless something changes, I don't think the Marner camp has Columbus on its list of preferred destinations. At least not so far.
If you are a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, you are probably feeling very resentful about these Mitch Marner reports.
It is clear he will not return to the franchise next season, and now, he is about to become the belle of the ball with numerous teams seeking his services.
Having said that, you can't help but appreciate what he has done for the team over the last decade, even if the playoff results weren't there.
Hopefully, Marner and the Leafs can find the maturity to mend fences and end their relationship with class over the coming weeks.
