Morgan Rielly Called Out by Toronto Maple Leafs Fans Online After Hitting a New Low

Morgan Rielly is one of the veterans on the Toronto Maple Leafs and when you look at his salary, it becomes clear that he should be the number one defenseman on the team.

However, objectively speaking, guys like Chris Tanev and even Jake McCabe have been much better and a lot more consistent, even if they lack on the offensive side of things.

In 69 games, Rielly only has 34 points which is way below his usual production and there have been a ton of questions concerning why he has been struggling so much this deep into the season.

In fact, one fan made a salient point on social media recently, and it is impossible not to agree with what is being said here.

Basically, the premise of the tweet was that Chris Tanev has a net rating of +30 this season and is leading that team in that category. However, Morgan Rielly has a net rating of -19 which makes for a 49 rating swing.

This is awful and there has been no real explanation for why these statistics have fallen in this direction.

If you are a Maple Leafs fan, then the Morgan Rielly situation has been one of the most concerning of the entire season so far.

Although he has had good stretches of hockey, they have largely been few and far between, especially over the last couple of weeks or so.
