With the Toronto Maple Leafs taking on the Ottawa Senators this weekend, NHL analysts like Ray Ferraro are rushing to give their takes on this Leafs team.
On Sunday, the Toronto Maple Leafs will play the Ottawa Senators in the first round of the NHL playoffs. It is going to be an amazing series and the fans are excited.
However, the optimism around this series is certainly a cautious one as the Leafs have been known to choke themselves out of the playoffs.
This season feels different, and analysts are feeling the same. In fact, one of those analysts just so happens to be Ray Ferraro.
Toronto Maple Leafs to crush the NHL Playoffs
While speaking to TSN Overdrive, Ferraro noted that there is a very clear strategy that the Leafs must employ if they want to go far in the playoffs this season.
They need to play their own game and not try to act tougher than they are. However, he does acknowledge that of all of the years, this is the one that feels the most different.
"I think it's really important for Toronto to not try and prove how tough they are. Just play your game you know how to play that I think at times this year has shown really well. They should be deeper offensively. This is Toronto's best opportunity. It seems different with this team."
Fans are going to love to hear this, but they also might just hate it at the same time. Leafs fans have been told for years that "this time is different."
However, the Leafs always find a way to lose a series that should be a sure thing. With that being said, let's not get our collective hopes up so soon.
Game 1 goes down on Sunday and this will be a good Litmus test of just how ready this Maple Leafs team is for the big show.
The Senators are not the Boston Bruins of old, so there is at least a chance the team makes quick work of their division rival. But it is not going to be easy.
