NHL Department of Player Safety responds to Ryan Reaves' illegal hit on Darnell Nurse
You can't be going around hitting people in the head, even if the player in question had their head down. Simply put, you just need to be a lot smarter sometimes.
That notion was all but confirmed earlier this morning as it was revealed that Reaves would be getting a hearing with the DoPS.
Ryan Reaves in front of the NHL
"Toronto's Ryan Reaves will have a hearing today for an illegal check to the head against Edmonton's Darnell Nurse."
This is not an in-person hearing which means that Reaves will be getting under five games. However, it is hard to tell how long the suspension is actually going to be here.
It could very well just be one game or it could even just so happen to be a fine of sorts. Whatever the case may be, there is no doubt that Reaves messed up.
Now, the team is sitting at a record of 11-6-2 and they are starting to look like one of the best teams in the league.
