Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson had an up-and-down season, but he is a restricted free agent against which makes things very interesting for the Leafs.
Nick Robertson is easily one of the more polarizing players on the Toronto Maple Leafs thanks to his inconsistent play and constant healthy scratches.
During the playoffs, the young forward only played three games. He notched a goal and an assist, but for the most part, he was kind of invisible out there.
How much is Nick Robertson worth?
His status heading into last season was a bit bizarre. He had requested a trade because the Leafs wouldn't sign him. However, they eventually agreed on a one-year deal worth $875K.
Now, Robertson is an RFA again, and he is up for a brand-new contract. This is going to be a fascinating storyline to follow, as no one really knows how the Leafs feel about the winger right now.
In a piece for the Toronto Star, NHL insider Nick Kypreos made some bold claims about the forward's next contract. He believes Robertson could demand anywhere between $1.5 and $2 million.
Leafs winger Nick Robertson once again finds himself without a contract for next season. The 23-year-old restricted free agent is eligible for salary arbitration for the first time this summer. However, he is an RFA, which makes things a bit more complicated. The Leafs would therefore have to look into trading him.
Only time will tell what the Leafs decide, and whether or not Nick Robertson is forced to locate ahead of next season.
