Former Toronto Maple Leafs center Ryan O'Reilly infamously left the for the Nashville Predators in free agency and now he's paying the price.
Nashville Predators center
Ryan O'Reilly is a Stanley Cup-winning player who got to spend one season with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2022-2023.
Some feel like he did the franchise dirty and that he was never a fan of the media or even his teammates in the city. While this is mainly conjecture, he remains a hated figure.
Ryan O'Reilly frustrated with the Nashville Predators
This season, the Leafs have had quite a bit of regular season success while the Nashville Predators are not close to making a playoff spot.
O'Reilly has 16 goals and 42 points, however, he has not been his usual self and his frustration has been palpable throughout the entire season.
Recently, the Predators center made some very pointed comments about the season, noting that he wishes he could get mad right now. However, his own performance is keeping himself from really lashing out.
«I want to get mad, but I'm not good enough to be mad right now.»
Ultimately, there is no telling where the Predators are going to go from here on out. This is clearly a transitional year for them and next year, the expectations will be higher.
As for O'Reilly, he will be hoping for the Maple Leafs to fizzle out in the playoffs as a deep run would make him feel even worse about his decision from a few years ago.
No matter what, fans are going to love these comments from O'Reilly, which are not great for him, but good for the Leafs.
