This Stat Proves the Toronto Maple Leafs Made One of the Worst Trade in NHL History
The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins made a horrible trade in 2006 that still haunts fans, and almost 20 years later, it is still being litigated online.
Toronto Maple Leafs fans are well aware of the history this team has had when it comes to goaltenders. Some have been good, some have been terrible, and few have been great.
Right now, the Leafs have their best goalie tandem in years, as
Anthony Stolarz and
Joseph Woll give them a chance to win, every single night.
However, Leafs fans were recently asked to name the worst trade in team history, and it led them to a goalie swap in 2006, between the Leafs and the Boston Bruins.
Now, social media has been set ablaze with a new statistic that proves just how truly awful the Rask trade was for the Leafs.
Tuuka Rask for Andrew Raycroft was a disaster
Essentially, Rask has 308 wins throughout his career, which makes him the winningest goaltender to ever be drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
That is 42 more wins than the next best goalie, which is none other than Felix Potvin, a Maple Leafs legend. Joseph Woll only has 48 wins, yet is somehow tenth on the list, which just shows the Leafs have had bad luck.
For Maple Leafs fans, there is no point dwelling on these results. They are in the past. But still, it just shows that John Ferguson Jr. was a horrible general manager.
We're sure Leafs fans are happy with what they have right now, and will not be taking it for granted, anytime soon.
Hopefully, Brad Treliving is much smarter with his assets, going forward.
