The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to get a bit creative heading into free agency on Tuesday; however, their latest target isn't exactly popular on hockey Twitter.
However, fans are expecting some signings, even if those signings aren't exactly Blockbusters. The Leafs could use some grit on their fourth line, especially with
Ryan Reaves' future in jeopardy.
Toronto Maple Leafs free agency plans
According to Pierre LeBrun of TSN, the Leafs are showing interest in Montreal Canadiens free agent forward
Michael Pezzetta, who is coming off a season with 0 points in 25 games.
While he isn't a flashy acquisition, he is a guy who loves to fight and throw the body around, which is something this team will definitely need.
Wouldn't surprise me if the Maple Leafs are among the teams who show interest in
Michael Pezzetta when the market opens Tuesday
Unfortunately, the Leafs are being laughed at right now, as some feel as though this is the worst possible move the team can make.
To be fair, this would be a cheap signing, and the Leafs are not expecting it to go anywhere. Regardless, fans are going to be fans and hate no matter what the team does.
If you are a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, you should absolutely be happy with what the team has managed to accomplish so far.
General manager Brad Treliving is doing a good job, and he should get some praise for what he has been able to manage.
