Toronto Maple Leafs Brutally Rejected by Top Trade Target

The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to make some moves right now, and someone on their radar is none other than Florida Panthers forward Evan Rodrigues.
Throughout the offseason, the Toronto Maple Leafs have tried to make numerous big moves; however, that has proven to be difficult.
There aren't a ton of players available on the market right now, and no one truly knows whether or not the Leafs have the assets to take a big swing.
That said, there are teams like the Florida Panthers who have some major salary cap concerns, and this is where the Toronto Maple Leafs can take advantage.
One player that has supposedly been on their radar is Stanley Cup champion Evan Rodrigues, who has been a stud for the Panthers.

According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, however, Rodrigues has no interest in going to the Leafs.
Per Jim Parsons:
If he were traded to Toronto, Rodrigues would likely put on a happy face and do his best. That said, the fear of being traded away from the Panthers last season suggests he has no desire to go anywhere now. That doesn't mean the Leafs won't inquire, if Rodrigues is actually available.
Rodrigues has spent the last few seasons beating the Maple Leafs, so it makes sense that he wouldn't want to go there.
Moreover, the tax situation in Toronto is a lot less advantageous than the situation in Florida, so it also makes sense financially.
Whatever the case may be, the Maple Leafs already have a bottom six that is set in stone, and trading for Rodrigues would be a lateral move.
Over the coming weeks, it is going to be very interesting to see what the Leafs are able to pull off.
