Toronto Maple Leafs Fans Are Going to Love Anthony Stolarz Even More After his Latest Comments

Anthony Stolarz was signed by the Maple Leafs in the offseason with the intention of being a backup to young star Joseph Woll.

However, Woll started the season with an injury which allowed Stolarz to get the first few starts of the year, and he ended up playing incredibly well.

Since returning from an injury in February, the goaltender has been fantastic and despite a couple of bad games here and there, he has been sensational in his last three starts.

For instance, he got a shutout last night against the Columbus Blue Jackets, which just so happened to be his second of the season. He also has a goals-against average of 2.26 and a save percentage of .922.

After the game, Stolarz made some comments that will certainly make Maple Leafs fans love him. Essentially, he spoke to his competitive spirit and just how much he loves to win.

Ultimately, winning is why he came to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first place. Strong words from a guy who won a cup in Florida last season.

With his latest string of performances, it would appear as though Stolarz has won the starting goalie job for the NHL playoffs.

Of course, things can change very quickly but if he stays healthy down the stretch, the Leafs will likely have no choice but to play him.

This feels like the year for the Toronto Maple Leafs, but the job is not finished. They must keep going and show fans that this team can actually beat the top dogs come playoff time.
