With the Toronto Maple Leafs putting Cayden Primeau on waivers, the Leafs need a backup for Anthony Stolarz tonight, and they have officially found him.
Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender
Anthony Stolarz is going to be starting tonight against the Boston Bruins, but he needs a backup.
Well, according to Luke Fox of Sportsnet, the Maple Leafs have officially made a decision on who is going to be coming up.
Dennis Hildeby is officially being called up on Saturday, where he is expected to get the start against the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday.
If you are a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, then you will certainly be intrigued by Hildeby being called up. We haven't seen him on the ice since last season, when he was still extremely raw.
Of course, he has been playing with the Toronto Marlies in the AHL and has been solid. Whether or not he is better than Cayden Primeau remains to be seen.
What is next for Cayden Primeau and Joseph Woll
Joseph Woll is going to be coming back to the Maple Leafs sometime next week, which means Hildeby won't be up with the Leafs for long.
As for Cayden Primeau, we will find out his fate later today, as we will know if a team claimed him off waivers or if he will go to the Toronto Marlies.
Whatever the case may be, the Maple Leafs have a lot going on right now, and it will be fascinating to see how their goaltending situation plays out.
This is something we will continue to monitor as the weekend goes on.
