Toronto Maple Leafs Organization Makes Lowkey Trade for Cole Caufield's Brother

Brock Caufield, the brother of Cole Caufield, has been playing in the ECHL as of late and the Toronto Maple Leafs organization made a move to bring him back into the fold.
Caufield is part of the
Montreal Canadiens and is therefore a major player in one of the NHL's biggest rivalries.
Having said that, the Maple Leafs have worked with Cole's brother Brock over the years as he played for the Newfoundland Growlers of the ECHL last season.
Brock Caufield to the Cincinnati Cyclones
At the start of the 2024-25 season, the Maple Leafs organization moved on from
Brock Caufield as he left to play for the Reading Royals, also of the ECHL.
However, it was announced on Monday that the winger had been traded to the
Cincinnati Cyclones for cash considerations.
For those who may not know, when the Newfoundland Growlers went under, the Leafs organization took on the Cyclones as their ECHL affiliate.
Overall, this isn't the biggest trade in the world but it was never supposed to be. This is just to bolster the forward core of the ECHL program.
Caufield has six goals and 10 points in 38 games this season which definitely isn't a lot and it pales in comparison to what we have seen from him in the past.
For instance, in the 2023-24 season, Brock Caufield finished out the season with 12 goals and 32 points in 63 games.
While it seems very unlikely that we see him in the NHL someday, one can only imagine that he will be motivated to join his brother in the show at some point.
We wish Caufield the best of luck moving forward in his hockey career.
