Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson could very well be traded soon, and the same is happening with Bryan Rust of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Many believe Robertson is about to be traded. The Leafs have enough bottom-six guys, but they need someone on the right wing in the top-six.
The Toronto Maple Leafs could trade Nick Robertson for Bryan Rust
One account dedicated to Leafs coverage on X recently suggested that the Leafs could package
Ben Danford, Nick Robertson, and a draft pick for Rust or Rickard Rickell.
They then said that while Danford is a good player, it could take years before he becomes solid, and the Leafs need to win now.
Danford is a safe bet to be a solid NHLer but probably doesn't become more than a #4 and he may not be that until the 2030s. Wes Clark drafted him.
Robertson needs a change. Gives Pitt NHL-ready young talent.
Pick doesn't have to be too valuable. May not even need it.
Overall, it is hard to imagine what is next for the Toronto Maple Leafs and their trade plans for the rest of the summer.
However, we're sure general manager Brad Treliving has at least thought about bringing in a guy like Rust or Rickell.
They would immediately inject offense into the lineup. and could be used alongside Captain
Auston Matthews.
Whatever the case may be, this is going to be an interesting development, and Robertson will continue to be a player to keep an eye on.
