The Utah Hockey Club has come through with its official name and a new logo after months of trying to impress NHL fans with a potential brand identity.
For many
NHL fans, it still feels pretty surreal that there is currently a team in Salt Lake City, Utah. After all, it isn't the first city in your mind when you think about hockey.
The only thing that was missing was a real nickname as well as a logo that this team could be proud of. Now, they have both of those things.
Today, it was revealed that the team will now go by the Utah Mammoth, which is a pretty cool name and is very much in line with the Kraken in terms of not being plural.
As for the logo, the team will keep its white and multiple shades of blue color scheme. Meanwhile, the insignia is the head of a mammoth with the mountains incorporated into the head.
It is a very cool look and there is no doubt that this is a lot better than a team simply called "Hockey Club."
While some may not love this branding, there is still a lot of merit to it. After all, the Mammoth is a pretty cool animal that is commanding of respect.
Moreover, it fits the history of Utah quite nicely. While some fans were hoping for Yeti, Mammoth will do just fine.
We cannot wait to see what the jerseys for this team are going to look like. Furthermore, we hope that there are some cool alternates as well.
Only time will tell whether or not this franchise in Utah lasts and if the NHL allows it to thrive like the fans hope it to.
