$50 Million Forward Emerges As Toronto Maple Leafs Trade Target

Philadelphia Flyers forward Owen Tippett is someone with immense potential, although he could be on the trade block with interest from the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Owen Tippett is a player who recently signed an eight-year deal worth $6.2 million per season. After scoring over 50 points a few seasons ago, he remains a solid player who can do well in a team's top six.
Unfortunately, the Philadelphia Flyers are awful, and it is very unlikely that this team makes a playoff run this season.
With that in mind, it remains doubtful that players like Tippett are going to want to stick around on what appears to be a sinking ship.
Are the Philadelphia Flyers trading Owen Tippett?
According to David Pagnotta, teams around the NHL are already circling the wagons and are prepared for a trade package in case Tippett becomes available.
Tippett brings good value to the table, and with seven seasons left on his deal, teams that trade for him would not need to negotiate a new deal anytime soon.

All of this makes Tippett extremely attractive to a team like the Toronto Maple Leafs, who are constantly looking for some forward depth.
As a right-winger, Tippett could even go on the first line with Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies. That is, of course, if Matias Maccelli, Easton Cowan, and Max Domi don't work out.
For now, the Maple Leafs are going to need to be smart about their moves, going forward, although we do know Brad Treliving has been directed to pounce.
With the trade deadline months away, Tippett remains a player that Maple Leafs fans should be thinking about.
