Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz is playing phenomenal hockey right now and Craig Berube is being left with no choice with the playoffs on the horizon.
Anthony Stolarz shine as the NHL playoffs approach
We say this because of the statistics that Stolarz has put up over the course of the last six games. With six wins and a save percentage of .936, it is hard to argue against him.
He even has a shutout during this period and has proven that he can capture wins against some of the best teams in the entire National Hockey League.
In 32 games this season, he has 19 wins, a goals-against average of 2.28 and a save percentage of .922. This would be good enough for Vezina trophy considerations.
Overall, it remains to be seen whether or not the Toronto Maple Leafs actually go with Stolarz, but as it stands, it seems like that is what is going to happen.
Don't get it twisted, Woll is still a great backup and he will be solid if he called upon. That said, Berube needs to do what is best for his team.
Stolarz is set to play the Carolina Hurricanes this season, and this could prove to be the test that he needs.
Hopefully, the goaltender keeps up the solid play as the games become that much more important. It is the only way the Leafs end up winning the cup.
