Auston Matthews' Latest Comments Won't be Popular with Toronto Maple Leafs Fans

Through 10 playoff games, Auston Matthews has 10 points which sounds good on the surface but once you dig a bit deeper, you realize he is punching below his weight.

The superstar forward has only managed two goals throughout the postseason and he has yet to score a single goal against the Florida Panthers.

Fans are waiting for him to step up, especially after the Leafs lost two games in a row. The series between the Leafs and the Panthers is now tied, and now is as good of a time as ever for the captain to do something.

After Sunday night's game, Matthews spoke to the media about the team's performance and how he feels after these losses.

Unfortunately, his answer isn't inspiring much confidence. Instead of reiterating how the team can change, he simply acknowledged how the team knew the game would be difficult.

Only time will tell whether or not the Toronto Maple Leafs are able to dig themselves out of a hole and take the lead in the series.

It is not going to be easy, but if Auston Matthews can get his offense in order, then there is a good chance that he pulls it off.
