Brad Treliving Makes Shocking Comment About John Tavares That Has Leafs Fans Terrified

Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving held a press conference today, and during this media session, he spoke about John Tavares' future with the Leafs.
John Tavares had himself a phenomenal season with the Toronto Maple Leafs as he scored 38 goals and had a total of 74 points.
At the age of 34, this was a great season to have, especially with a new contract on the horizon.
Now, Tavares and the Leafs have to have some tough conversations about the forward's future and whether or not he will be coming back to Toronto.
Are the Leafs bringing back John Tavares?
Fans have assumed for a while now that Tavares would be returning next season. After all, the forward seemed confident about that fact just a couple of weeks ago.
However, Brad Treliving's comments at a press conference today have us second-guessing. While speaking on Marner and Tavares, Treliving noted that he could not confirm whether both players would receive contract offers.
The general manager said the team was in the midst of trying to figure this out and that there is a lot that goes into these kinds of discussions.
Meanwhile, earlier in the press conference, Treliving was very firm on the idea that some things need to change, including the DNA of the team.
There's some DNA that needs to change in our team.
For almost a decade, Tavares and Marner have been part of this franchise's DNA. If the team wants to change the DNA, then it would make sense if these guys are gone.
Overall, this would be a hard pill to swallow for a lot of Leafs fans out there. After all, John Tavares was the team's captain.
But after so many playoff failures, Treliving has the right to want to change things up in a significant fashion.
It might be a tough adjustment for the franchise, but look at the Toronto Raptors. They got rid of DeMar DeRozan and won a championship the next season.
