Throughout free agency, the Toronto Maple Leafs had some interest in forward Jack Roslovic, although it would appear as though the Edmonton Oilers had something to say.
Jack Roslovic has been one of the biggest stories of the summer, as the forward could not get an NHL contract if his life depended on it.
What made this so odd was the fact that he had 22 goals last season and was very clearly an effective middle-six guy who could get you production.
The Toronto Maple Leafs were showing some interest in the forward, but eventually decided it was not in their best interest to sign him.
Since then, there have been some rumblings about where Roslovic might go with the NHL season about to begin.
Teams are in need, and Roslovic serves a purpose.
Jack Roslovic signs with the Toronto Maple Leafs
Well, late last night, the Edmonton Oilers came out and revealed that they had signed Roslovic to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million.
We interrupt game coverage for a moment to let you know the #Oilers have agreed to terms with forward Jack Roslovic on a one-year contract with an AAV of $1.5 million.
During the Summer, it was reported that the Oilers had offered Roslovic a contract, however, he had initially refused, thinking that he could find something better.
In the end, that was certainly not the case, and the forward found himself coming back to the Oilers to see if they could get something done.
Overall, the Toronto Maple Leafs are a stacked team in terms of their depth, so it makes complete sense that they would decide not to go with Roslovic.
Meanwhile, the Oilers are trying to win a Stanley Cup, and adding a guy like Roslovic certainly helps out that team's bottom-six.
