Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Chris Tanev suffered a frightening injury on Saturday against the Philadelphia Flyers, and it's very clearly a concussion.

Saturday night was a difficult one for the Toronto Maple Leafs as they watched Chris Tanev get taken off the ice on a stretcher.
The defenseman was hit in the head by Philadelphia Flyers forward Matvei Michkov, although it is up in the air as to whether or not this was an intentional play.
Whatever the case may be, it is a play that put Tanev in the hospital on the same night that he was returning to the Leafs following a concussion.
In fact, just one day before the Michkov hit, Tanev spoke to the media, where he made some prophetic comments about how concussions can completely vary depending on a myriad of factors.

These comments were made to Sportsnet reporter Luke Fox, and they are a very deep and well thought out explanation of the injury.
«I don't think any one mimics another one,» Tanev said. «Sometimes your symptoms may last a while; sometimes they don't. Sometimes they're headaches; sometimes they're just head pressure. Could be your mood. I mean, there's so many different things a person can feel, and I don't think any one is the same.»
Overall, the Toronto Maple Leafs remain one of the most enigmatic teams in the league this season, as their results have mostly been mediocre.
Fans have not been impressed with the team's performance, and with Tanev missing more time, it's only going to be worse for the team.
Now, Philippe Myers will have to be the next man up, and there is no telling whether or not he is built for that moment.
Only time will tell whether or not the Leafs can get over this stretch and get a win on Monday against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
