They went down 2-0 in the first period and had to play from behind throughout the entire game which was not idea.
In the end, the
Maple Leafs dominated the overtime period but the Senators were able to capitalize on their one good chance to win the game.
Craig Berube speaks on the Toronto Maple Leafs
Overall, the Leafs are 1-12 in series clinching games and that could get worse as this series continues. Ultimately, it is a bad look.
When asked about this team's killer instinct, Berube said that there are no issues. Instead, they played a good game and that it just came down to inches.
»I don't think that was the case tonight. I thought our team played extremely hard and did a lot of great things. We gave up four shots in two periods.
We defended hard and played hard. Bounces go one way or another. I'm not too concerned about it. I thought our team was ready to go. We did a lot of good things tonight, and it just didn't work out.»
This is a good mentality to have but it also ignores all of the trauma that Maple Leafs fans have when it comes to this team.
They have choked in the playoffs for generations at this point and the fans are very worried that it is going to happen all over again.
Game 5 will prove to be a pivotal one and we cannot wait to see how the Leafs are going to respond for this one.
If they lose, there might be riots in the streets. But if they win, everyone in the city will be feeling pretty damn good about things.
