Overall, this team has proven that they are, indeed, different this season. The defense is much improved and the Core Four are playing their best defense yet.
Meanwhile, the team is just one point away from guaranteeing themselves the Atlantic Division, which is truly impressive, all things considered.
Craig Berube shows that the Toronto Maple Leafs are different
Fans have also remarked how the team had to play 16 back-to-backs this season. Somehow, the team came away from that with a record of 10-4-2 during the second half of them.
While speaking to reporters, Berube revealed just how proud he is of his team. Just one look at these comments tells you all you need to know about this Leafs squad.
"I'm proud of the group for how they responded this year. I think our record was 10-4-2 on (tail end of) back-to-backs this year. Pretty good record. Tough a lot of times with the travel and where you're at and everything. So guys have done a good job of being smart, playing the right way, and defending and not opening it up too much."
It's almost impossible not to feel like this season is different. The Leafs are doing all of the right things and they are getting hot right at the perfect time.
This is when you want your team to be playing its best hockey and with games against the Buffalo Sabres and Detroit Red Wings to finish out the season, there is a huge opportunity at stake.
Only time will tell whether or not the Leafs can finish this out and show the world that they really do mean business this time around.
A first round series against the Ottawa Senators would do wonders, and the fans are very hopeful to see it all go down.
