Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has been making some lineup adjustments lately and a big beneficiary has been forward Bobby McMann.
There have been a few bottom six players who simply have not lived up to the expectations this season.
For most of the season, the undrafted star has played on the third line with Robertson and another struggling forward,
Max Domi.
Craig Berube loves Bobby McMann
He has amassed 19 goals and 31 points this season and with just 12 games left in the season, the forward has been bumped up to the second line with
William Nylander and
John Tavares.
With
Max Pacioretty out of the lineup for the foreseeable future, this is a promotion that could last a very long time. While for some it might be unexpected, there is no doubt that it is well-deserved.
In fact, when asked about
Bobby McMann and his recent promotion, Craig Berube revealed exactly what he thinks of his winger.
"He's earned that spot in my opinion."
These are the kinds of guys the Toronto Maple Leafs need right now, especially as they find themselves looking to embark on a deep playoff run this season.
The team has been ousted in the first round quite a bit over the last decade and under Berube, they want to change that, permanently.
It is not going to be easy and the first step is winning the Atlantic Division so they can avoid the Florida Panthers or Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round.
Otherwise, the path to the Stanley Cup Finals is going to be that much more difficult for this Leafs team.
