Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube made Nick Robertson a healthy scratch against the Los Angeles Kings and fans weren't exactly mad about it.
Craig Berube has had to make a ton of big decisions this season and that is particularly true when it comes to guys like Nick Robertson, who have struggled.
In fact, Robertson only has 12 goals and 19 points this season which is not good enough given some of the expectations that were placed on him.
Craig Berube explains the Nick Robertson healthy scratch
Essentially, it all boiled down to some reckless decisions where he took penalties and played in a manner that was not conducive to winning.
"I got to make decisions, right?" Berube explained. "I want to keep guys going as much as I can. And I thought Nick, in the last few games, lots of penalties and just some turnover things. So, I had a good talk with him today. He's in good shape, and he'll be ready to go tomorrow if needed."
It has since been confirmed that Nick Robertson will not draw back into the lineup against the Anaheim Ducks as
Pontus Holmberg continues to get that assignment.
No lineup changes for Maple Leafs, who won less than 24 hours ago in L.A.
Woll expected in the crease.
With the playoffs coming up, it is going to be fascinating to see what happens next and whether or not the Leafs put Robertson back in the lineup.
If they don't then there is a good chance that Robertson is done in a Toronto Maple Leafs uniform.
